Copycat
Mary Jo over at the FlyAway Cafe posted a bit about her celebrity sightings in today’s
edition of her Friday Flight Attendant series. Not one to let a good idea slip by uncopied, I’ve decided to jump on board, too–so to speak.
Before I was even born, my mom started working as a reservations agent for a major airline; she was with them for almost thirty years. That meant we flew for free, which in the ’70s and ’80s was a different experience than it is today. Because private jet travel was still uncommon, even for the very affluent, we often spotted celebs on our flights or in the airport. These are some of my old-school favorites (Sorry, Johnny Depp fans):
Art Linkletter–1974, on a flight from Denver, CO to San Francisco, CA.
Charo–1975, John Wayne Airport in Orange County, CA
Cathy Lee Crosby–1979, on an airplane from Honolulu to Denver
Joey Bishop–1980, at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, NV
Liberace–1981, Stapelton International Airport in Denver, CO
Jamie Lee Curtis–1986, San Diego Airport
Glenn Frey–2002, Hanalei, Hawaii

Great list.
I had forgotten Jamie Lee Curtis — she was on a flight of mine between Los Cabos and LAX.
What a fun list! As many times as my husband and I have been to the Las Vegas airport we’ve only seen one “celebrity” – Carrot Top! Yay us
