On Makapu’u Beach, not too far from Waikiki on the island of O’ahu, is the theme park and attraction Sea Life Park. Movie star, or KIDS FIRST audience member?
The Sheraton Waikiki on Oahu and the University of Hawai’i is treating locals and island visitors big and small to two free movies this summer with the KIDS FIRST Film Festival June 8-July 20, 2008.
There will be six Sunday screenings at 3:00 p.m. at the UH-Manoa Art Auditorium (except July 6). Two of the featured films will also have repeat showings poolside at the Sheraton Waikiki against the backdrop of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. All films are shown free of charge.

The Waikiki area is no stranger to the cultural experience, and now, culture takes to the beach. Actually, to the Outrigger. The Outrigger Reef on the Beach, actually.
For a limited time, The Outrigger Reef on the Beach has unveiled two special museum exhibits featuring Pacific island cultural arts and Hawaiian missionary artifacts in its lobby. Both exhibits are free and open to the public.

Traveling with children to any destination can be tricky business. However, thousands of families successfully make their way to the islands–Oahu and Maui in particular–and leave with a lifetime of treasured memories. In fact, I began visiting the islands at the age of two with my parents, and carried on the tradition by taking our little keiki (child) with us to Maui at the same age. A good time was had by all.
